Answering
industry’s demand for solid-state switches, Gems Sensors is
now introducing the PS98 Series of pressure switches using transducer
technology. PS98 Series pressure switches feature a polysilicon strain
gauge teamed with a custom ASIC to provide accurate, thermal-compensated
pressure sensing. The sensing results are used to actuate a solid-state
relay or transistor switch. With no moving parts, the solid-state
construction resists the damage that shock and vibration can cause
to mechanical switch units and is designed to deliver more than 100
million switch actuation cycles. This makes the PS98 Series ideal
for off-highway, mobile or other demanding applications.
Gems uses its proven Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) technology
to produce extremely stable polysilicon strain gauges. CVD manufacturing
methods bond a polysilicon strain gauge bridge layer to a stainless
steel diaphragm at the molecular level to produce a sensor with
superior long-term drift. Repeatability is within 0.25% of the full
set point range. The PS98 pressure switches are an ideal alternative
to electromechanical types when switch action exceeds 50 cycles/minute
and a broad frequency response is needed.
A modular design allows for a wide range of configurations. In
addition to pressure sensing electronics that range from 0 to 6000
psi (0 to 400 bar), the PS98 Series offers a broad selection of
pressure connections and several electrical termination options,
including DIN plugs and IP68 cables. Switch actuation and de-actuation
set points are customer-specified and set at the Gems factory. Operating
temperatures range from -40°F to 260°F (-40°C to 125°C).
Power requirement is 24VDC. Switch body (minus pressure port and
electrical termination) is less than 2.7” long and 1.5”
in diameter.
